Teoscar Hernandez will rejoin the Blue Jays in time for Wednesday night’s game against the New York Yankees after spending the last three weeks in Triple-A Buffalo working on his cold bat — and his confidence. His power waned to start the year — he hit just three homers — and Hernandez seemed to lose any understanding of the strike zone, his 42 strikeouts ranking fifth among Blue Jays hitters despite playing the eighth-most game. Centre-fielder Jonathan Davis was optioned to Buffalo in make room for Hernandez on the Jays’ roster. Hernandez offers more upside at the plate than Davis, who made some highlight-reel-worthy defensive plays during his 17 games with Toronto but hit just .143 with a lone homer, two RBIs and a lowly .381 OPS.
