An Auckland tenant has been awarded more than $1000 after a tradesman invaded her privacy by entering her bedroom when she was not home. A smart camera the tenant had left in her bedroom when she moved out of the property while the work was being done captured the tradesman. Eric Hood The landlord's longstanding tradesman was refurbishing the bathroom when he entered the tenant's bedroom (file photo). The Tenancy Tribunal concluded the tradesman should not have gone into the tenant's bedroom, as it was an invasion of her privacy. It also ordered the landlord to pay the tenant $1000 in exemplary damages for his "retaliatory notice".
