Tenancy law changes headed to Assembly


Chief minister Raghubar Das chairs the TAC meeting at Project Building, Ranchi, on Thursday. Earlier on October 19, spokesperson Khare had allayed tribal fears related to the amendments, saying tribal land would stay non-transferable even if it was used in non-agricultural ways profitably. Today's TAC meeting harped on this. It clarified that if a tribal land owner did not have resources to set up a commercial project on his land and someone else did so, land ownership would stay with the tribal. Veteran and former chief minister Arjun Munda, who is not a TAC member, persisted in calling the move hasty.
