Spain’s data-protection regulator is investigating cases after receiving complaints about temperature checks, said Rafael García Gozalo, director of international relations for the authority. Temperature checks alone aren’t a reliable method to determine whether someone has the coronavirus, he added. Privacy regulators say they also rely on local health authorities to determine what measures are necessary, such as whether they recommend temperature checks to prevent infections. The European Parliament last month started requiring temperature checks for everyone entering its buildings in Belgium, France and Luxembourg. “We assume in one way or another the temperature checks will be recorded,” he said.
