Teen's idea to combat homesickness blossoms into solid business


An idea that started in a boarding school dorm room could see 18-year-old Tanya Haseltine opening up her own shop next year. The New Plymouth Girls’ High School student started bubble tea business Petite Cha last year in her enterprise studies class with friend Moana Matariki. Bubble tea is a Taiwanese tea-based drink with chewy tapioca balls in it. The idea blossomed out of homesickness after Haseltine moved to New Zealand three years ago from Cambodia, where her parents remain.
