Teenager killed by train was jogging and wearing headphonesBEVAN READ Investigations are ongoing after a pedestrian was hit by a train this morning in Ranui. A 16-year-old boy was out for a jog when he ran into the path of an oncoming train and was killed in west Auckland. He was believed to be wearing headphones when he crossed the tracks at Ranui station and was unaware of the approaching train. BEVAN READ / FAIRFAX NZ The incident forced the closure of the western train line. The incident happened just before 7am on Thursday, and forced the closure of the western train line and a road in Ranui.
