According to the police, the 16-year-old boy, a school dropout and reportedly working as a mechanic, was trying to drive the car in the presence of his grandfather N. Vaigai Moorthy, 65, a resident of the street. Soon after, he started the car, the boy allegedly lost control and hit the victim M. Palaniammal, who was selling idlis. With severe injuries, she was taken to GRH, where the doctors declared her brought dead. Based on a complaint filed by her son M. Gunasekaran, 40, the Tallakulam Traffic Investigation Wing police have registered a case.
