Pinkney, 18, was shot and killed after 1 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Stanton and Pomeroy roads in Southeast Washington. Of them, D.C. police say 108 were killed in the District, a 37 percent increase over this time last year. Pinkney often was at school, at Horton’s Kids or in his house, his mother said, to stay away from danger in the neighborhood.
