A teenage girl died after leaping into Hatirjheel lake in Dhaka around midnight on Saturday when police came to find her based on her family's complaint. Hatirjheel police station OC Awlad Hossain said she had been missing since running away from home after a fight with her family on Friday. Police officers went to Hatirjheel to rescue her, but upon realizing their presence she jumped into the water. A young sweet seller named Noman also jumped into the lake to save the girl but could not find her. Later, fire service divers recovered the girl's dead body from the water body.
