Emergency services at Ellison St, where a cyclist got hit by a train. A Napier Boys’ High School student is in hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a train on a level crossing on Thursday morning. The student, who was on a bicycle, was reportedly trying to cross in front of the train at the crossing on Ellison St in Napier South shortly before 8.30am. Napier Boys’ High School headmaster Jarred Williams​ said the school was “saddened and shocked” by an accident involving one of its students. Napier mayor Kirsten Wise​ said her thoughts “go out to the young man involved in this collision, his family and his friends”.
