Democratic Party lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung, who filed a private litigation, said today the Eastern Magistrates' Courts has decided to summon a traffic police officer for shooting a 22-year-old student in the stomach with a live round at a protest in Sai Wan Ho on November 11 last year. Shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm is among the three charges the officer will face, and it carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, Hui said. The student was left critically ill after he was shot, and had underwent surgery to remove his right kidney and part of his liver.
