Technology empowers thousands more women to work for themselvesSUPPLIED We Network founder Rachel Lewis says technology has lowered the barriers for women to enter business. The number of self-employed women in New Zealand almost doubled in 2015. In 2014, about 100,000 New Zealand women worked for themselves, either full-time or on the side. By 2016, that number had almost doubled to reach the largest number of self-employed women in New Zealand in nearly two decades. Women in business support group We Network founder Rachel Lewis said technology probably caused the unprecedented spike.
