KUALA LUMPUR: Comprehensive technical studies will be conducted before any major projects are implemented to address flood related problems in Penang. "I have asked Penang to review and study once again on ways to overcome flooding problems on the island. "Even if we address the drainage and irrigation system, without the proper retention ponds for storm water, flash flood will still occur," he said after a visit to Sekolah Persendirian Chong Hwa here. He said their agenda was to address the storm water and have proper retention ponds to avoid it from becoming surface water. He said the guidelines were there the whole time which among them included providing retention ponds to channel the storm water back into the sea.
