The last time Ontario secondary school teachers went on a province-wide strike, I was a high school student. This time, I’m the one on the picket lines, participating in the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) one-day strike. Every honk or wave was a further acknowledgment of the importance of what we were on strike to protect — our kids, our public education system. I believe in the public education system. My own children are enrolled in public schools, and my elder son is in his first year of high school.
