A primary school teacher who claims she tried cocaine thinking that it was “sugar or salt” has been banned from teaching. Teacher Barbara Twumasi, 35, was given the Class A drug in an envelope at a wedding party, and tried it. She said she believed it to be salt or sugar, but a professional misconduct panel found her guilty of unacceptable professional misconduct. A report into her conduct, from the Government's Teaching Regulation Agency said: “It is necessary to impose a prohibition order in order to maintain public confidence in the profession. Having been tested by police, it was confirmed that the powder was not “sugar or salt” but cocaine.
