SEREMBAN: A teacher who was facing a charge of causing hurt to his student was given a discharge not amounting to acquittal by the magistrate's court here on Tueday (Dec 19) morning. He was charged under section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and faces up to a jail sentence of up to a year, a fine of RM,2000 or both upon conviction. Cikgu Azizan was then released on a RM500 bail. Earlier several hundred people including teachers gathered at the court in a show of solidarity with Cikgu Azizan. The crowd started gathering as early as 7.30am and Cikgu Azizan turned up about 8.20am.
