SonntagsBlick asked Comparis, an online broker and lender, for information on how many of their clients were taking out loans to pay taxes. Each Swiss canton has its own specific rules and tax rates, however typically, advance monthly tax payment are made based on a taxpayer’s income and asset history. When someone loses their job during the year they must continue making the monthly advance tax payments, despite a drop in income. Then when salaries stop so would the tax payments.
