The United Democratic Front (UDF) has said that Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac’s taxation proposals are inflationary in nature and will impose additional burden on the people who are yet to recover from the flood disaster. “We understand the imperatives of bringing in the flood cess, but it should not turn out to be punishing for the common man. Listing out the undelivered proposals, he doubted the sincerity behind some of the budget proposals. The Finance Minister should explain the reasons for the fall in tax collection over the years.
