Allison is a digital reporter for the Bay of Plenty TimesCrime fighting in Tauranga will receive a boost as part of the Government's announcement promising more staff in the regions. More police staff, including more sworn officers, will be on the beat in the Bay of Plenty as part of a $502 million crime-fighting package announced today. All 12 police districts, including the Bay, would receive extra officers, though police would work out how many would go where based on need. Tauranga representative for the NZ Police Association Scott Thompson said everyone was more than happy with the announcement. Tauranga MP Simon Bridges said the package would ensure everyone would have officers to call on 24/7.
