Tata Communications: tata communications to expand iot network lora to 60 cities in 2017, Telecom News, ET Telecom


Mumbai: Tata Communications plans to expand its LoRa network dedicated solely for Internet of Things to 60 cities by the end of 2017, the company said on Monday.The communication provider added that the network will be expanded to the rest of the country by 2018. The LoRa network is currently functional in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Jamshedpur.LoRa is essentially a wireless communication technology dedicated to the Internet of Things ( IoT ) / Machine to Machine ( M2M ) communications network. LoRa technology provides for a network that is a low-power, secure, bi-directional which organisations can use to connect objects. We have evaluated our technology and believe that LoRa is the way to go forward," VS Shridhar, senior vice president and head – Internet of Things, Tata Communications, said to ET. We believe that the 865-867 Mhz band will give immense scope for IoT," Shridhar added.
