Targeting organised crime gang highlights force’s commitment ‘to keeping people of Roscommon safe’

A local Garda Superintendent has said that searches targeting an organised crime group operating in the Roscommon area highlights the force’s “commitment to preventing and detecting crime and keeping the people of Roscommon safe”. John Fitzgerald, attached to Roscommon Garda Station, told the Roscommon Herald that the “robust policing operation was undertaken in response to the recent endangerment of our members”. The seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis. A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on Tuesday, and was being detained at a Garda Station in County Roscommon under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. The seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis and investigations are ongoing.
