Taranaki dairy farmers are on track to record a 7 per cent drop in milk production and lost earnings of $45,000 this season. Supplied Taranaki Federated Farmers dairy chairman Donald McIntyre said a soggy start to summer had contributed to lower milk production. "But it can vary hugely between farms and affect grass growth - and milk production - in different ways," he said. "Yes, the payout's going up but people have fewer cows and lower production.
