Taranaki Civil Defence emergency regional manager Todd Velvin and Acting Minister of Emergency Management Kris Faafoi were all smiles at the reopening of the Taranaki Emergency management centre in New Plymouth. After 18 months of work, Taranaki's new emergency management office is ready for whatever nature throws at the region. The rebuilt facility in New Plymouth was opened on Thursday by Acting Minister for Emergency Management, Kris Faafoi. SIMON O'CONNOR/Stuff Faafoi opened the refurbished Taranaki Emergency management centre on Thursday. “The community will really benefit when Mother Nature calls.”The opening was attended by the mayors and chief executives of the region’s four councils, iwi representatives, the Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management group members and emergency organisations and volunteers.
