Nathan Webb’s jury trial in New Plymouth District Court on Monday was abandoned after he pleaded guilty. A rape trial has been scrapped before it began after the defendant pleaded guilty to three of the nine charges. Nathan Webb’s trial by jury was due to start in the New Plymouth District Court on Monday. But before the trial opened on Monday, Webb entered guilty pleas to injuring with intent to injure, wounding with intent to injure and rape of a female over the age of 16. The remaining charges will be withdrawn at sentencing, which will take place on August 31.
