Taranaki losing local radio station Hokonui

NZME has decided to switch the Hokonui Taranaki frequency to Gold AM. Taranaki's mayors have gone in to bat for a local radio station which is set to go off-air this week. Hokonui Taranaki's owner, NZME, is set to replace its frequency with Gold AM from Tuesday December 1. The Taranaki mayoral forum, comprising the region's four council leaders, has written to NZME expressing their “deep disappointment”. Gold AM is NZME’s rural sport radio station, which took over the frequencies of Radio Sport.
