Taranaki land owner says road extension could save lives at intersection

Sheep graze where an extension of Oropuriri Rd (pictured) north to Henwood Rd could ease traffic congestion at the dangerous Egmont and Devon Rd intersection. A Taranaki horse trainer living near a historic Maori site says traffic congestion would be reduced, and lives saved, if authorities extended a nearby side road through his land. SIMON O'CONNOR/STUFF Bell Block landowner Don Caskey (right), with partner Helen McEwen, said extending Oropuriri Rd to Henwood Rd could solve traffic congestion. Caskey said the extension of Oropuriri Rd would give heavy trucks an option not to use the intersection. Hodgetts said it was too soon to say if an extended Oropuriri Rd would reduce congestion at the Egmont Rd and Devon Rd intersection.
