A person was seriously assaulted in the early hours of Sunday in South Taranaki. A person is in a serious condition after what police said was a grievous assault in South Taranaki during the early hours of Sunday. Police were called about to South Rd, Hāwera, about 1am. The person was air lifted to Taranaki Base Hospital, a police spokeswoman said. Police were talking to a suspect at the time, but spokeswoman could not confirm if any arrests had been made.
