State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim has said internet services may slow down between Oct 24 and Oct 26 due to repair work on submarine cables. She said this on Sunday when addressing the inauguration of Aparajita, a free Teletalk package designed for women, at the Secretariat in Dhaka. She also said the Aparajita users would be able to purchase a one-GB internet package at Tk8 and a two-GB package at Tk14 for three months after subscribing to the Aparajita package. In reply to journalists’ query, Tarana said the state-run operator is incurring losses due mainly to its limited network facilities. She also alleged that the Finance Ministry has not yet released the money although the project was approved twice by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council.
