Former PM Tamrat Layne latest remark on the situation in Ethiopia and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration is drawing criticism for different reasons. He was specific that Oromo Democratic Party which emerged as a dominant force within the Prosperity Party the way TPLF was a dominant force during Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). He tends to see a sinister motive behind ongoing massacres targeting ethnic-Amhara in Benihsangul Gumuz region and Oromo region – among others. His remarks about Prime Minister Abiy, whom he knows closely when Abiy was in Denver, is not something that could be dismissed altogether.
