Tamil Nadu on Monday reported as many as 1,385 new COVID19 cases and 10 deaths pushing the total number of cases to 8,68,367 and the death toll to 12,609. For the last two days, the state logged over 1,200 cases daily. Tamil Nadu has been witnessing a surge in cases for a few days. Tamil Nadu last reported over 1,000 cases in December 28, 2020. With Tamil Nadu witnessing a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases over the last few days, the government had on Saturday ordered closure of schools for classes 9, 10 and 11 from Monday until further orders.
