Talley's opens all sites to WorkSafe for inspection after photos emerge

Talley's Group will open all its sites to WorkSafe auditors, and grant access to former and present company staff to investigate recent allegations of systemic health and safety issues. WorkSafe chief executive Phil Parkes said the group had a history of poor health and safety performance. The most recent was an incident a Talley’s plant in Ashburton where a worker’s hand was injured in a machine. A long-running court case ensued after WorkSafe brought charges against Talley’s, which lost its appeal. Talley's pleaded guilty to failing to ensure employee safety and was sentenced in Nelson District Court in 2016.
