Basketballer Tom Vodanovich and partner Jade Mace were told they could fly from Milan to Dubai but in Dubai they were stopped from boarding a flight to New Zealand. Jade Mace and Tom Vodanovich wait for a flight out of Dubai after initially being stranded there by the new managed isolation voucher allocation system. On November 1 family in New Zealand alerted them to the need for a managed isolation voucher. They applied immediately for an emergency voucher and were permitted to board a flight in Luxembourg. There were 7263 managed isolation beds, RNZ reported in October, with average vacancies running at more than 2000 every day at the time.
