Talks break down between school bus drivers, company

Talks between the union representing school bus drivers and First Student bus company have effectively broken down, Unifor said Wednesday, hours before the midnight strike deadline. “Unifor is here to negotiate, but First Student is currently not at the table,” Unifor Local 4268 president Deb Montgomery said in a statement. “Instead of bargaining, the employer has indicated that it would prefer to focus on shutting down operations.”A strike or lockout following the deadline at 12:01 a.m. Thursday could affect transportation to and from school for 8,500 students at the Toronto public and Catholic boards. More to come.
