Taking care of big country businessPaparata Elite Romney stud was established in the King Country in 1983. On the sheep side of the business, the Paparata group runs 24,000 romney ewes, 2000 recorded romney ewes, 500 ram hoggets and 6000 ewe hoggets. All home-bred sires selected for use over Paparata recorded ewes are FE tolerance tested. The docking rate in the recorded flock was 150 per cent this year, and 135-140 per cent for the commercial flock. Paparata country is 365m above sea level at its highest point and 152m at its lowest.
