Instagram officials want to change that. Searching or clicking on hashtags such as #koalaselfie, #elephantride or #dolphinkiss will reveal a pop-up message that reads, “Animal abuse and the sale of endangered animals or their parts is not allowed on Instagram. These photos often support what World Animal Protection considers cruel behavior by the wildlife entertainment industry, officials said. Instagram officials also don’t want people who purposely post illegal wildlife practices to find ways around the warnings. Instagram isn’t the only social platform to take a stand on wildlife protection.
