The Flaming Onion opened in 2012 -- owned and run by an ex-Engine Room chef. It has changed hands since but -- we figured -- a good burger is worth a drive. Parking's easy -- The Flaming Onion is your archetypal, old-school suburban takeaway, next to a cluster of corner shops in Northcote. We topped that off with onion rings ($4.80 each) and chips ($3.50) and aioli ($2). I liked the onion rings, others reckoned they didn't match their memories of previous visits.
