As camogie teams up and down the country were getting back into the heat of battle once more, Roscommon were forced to wait in the wings after their opening round game in Division Three of the Centra Camogie League against Kildare was postponed last weekend. Barring any further weather-related disruption, Roscommon will commence their campaign with a home game against Armagh this Saturday in St. Aidan's GAA grounds, Ballyforan (throw-in is at 2 p.m.). However, teams that lift championship titles in Croke Park often need to secure a league title to harness that winning feeling. With five teams competing for two league final spots, Roscommon have a chance to send out a statement of intent against an Armagh team that beat them twice in last year’s championship, most notably ending their season at the All-Ireland semi-final stage. Roscommon can close the gap to Armagh, but beating a team that will be favourites for league and championship honours might just be a step too far.
