The Baths of Caracalla, one of ancient Rome's most majestic buildings, have been returned – virtually – to their original glory, allowing visitors to see what they looked like almost 2,000 years ago. Inaugurated in 216 AD, the baths had five floors – including three underground – and accommodated up to 8,000 people per day. Once richly decorated with marble floors and giant statues, its surviving walls are almost 40-metres tall.
