Taiwan destroys Chinese frozen fish tainted with cancer-causing chemical

A frozen fish product imported from China has been included in a list of foods that failed border inspections for containing an excessive amount of drug residue, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Tuesday, CNA reports. Taiwan has a zero tolerance policy for LMG residue in foods, according to the FDA. The detection led to the destruction of 54 kg of the cheese, the FDA said. The list contained 13 types of food that failed border safety inspections, according to the FDA. LMG is formed by the metabolic reduction of MG and persists in the tissues of exposed fish.
