Taiwan charges 15 for helping 1,094 Chinese enter illegally


Fifteen people affiliated with an online company were indicted tpday by Tainan prosecutors for unlawfully helping over 1,000 Chinese nationals enter Taiwan. The 15 are linked to WISBET Digital Entertainment Developing Co., including the company's acting CEO surnamed Pan, who is the girlfriend of the man in charge of the company, CNA reports. The company's head, surnamed Chuang, has fled Taiwan and the authorities have put him on a wanted list. All 15 were charged with document forgery and violations of the Act Governing Relations Between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, according to the indictment. WISBET illegally helped 1,094 Chinese nationals enter Taiwan from 2015-2019, and chalked up NT$50.52 million (US$1.71 million) in service fee for its operators, Tainan prosecutors said.
