Taiwan Water Corp. calls for public to store water

Taiwan Water Corp. calls for public to store waterTAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taiwan Water Corporation (TWC) has called for the public to store water and cut back on running water usage in anticipation of Typhoon Nepartak. The corporation urged the public to save up water and reduce the use of running water. The TWC pointed out that it has carried out preparations at water purification plants across Taiwan to handle possible extraordinarily high water turbidity due to heavy rainfall. The TWC reminds the public to shut down water pumps in case of water outage to prevent overheating of pump motors, as well as to avoid putting rubber tubes in water, which could lead to the contamination of stored water. The TWC has set up an emergency task force in response to the typhoon, which is expected to be closest to Taiwan from late Thursday to Friday.
