Despite a sparkling five-wicket haul from slow bowler Taijul Islam, South Africa have taken a 34-run lead in the Mirpur Test against Bangladesh. At stumps, South Africa were on 140-6 with Tony de Zorzi (30) as their top-scorer and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne (18) and Wiaan Mulder (17) at the crease. Rabada notably became the fastest bowler to take 300 Test wickets in terms of the number of deliveries. No other partnership exceeded 30 runs. But the quick wickets from Taijul give them a fighting chance going into Day 2 of the Test.
