TAAL Volcano has recorded the highest gas emission at 2,272 tons in the past 24 hours as the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it was consistent with its continued state of increased unrest. On one hand, the Taal Volcano Network (TVN) did not detect any single volcanic earthquake, however, low-level background tremor was recorded, according to Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum. He said the TVN has recorded sulfur dioxide emission which was measured at 2,272 tons on April 26, 2021. “Alert Level 2 remains at Taal (Volcano) because of the continued background tremor consistent with active degassing as supported by the high sulfur dioxide measurement. At the same time, Solidum said, the high sulfur dioxide emission rate measured in Taal was consistent with its continued state of increased unrest.
