TVO has launched an investigation into journalist Steve Paikin following an allegation of sexual harassment by former Toronto mayoral candidate Sarah Thomson. Paikin is alleged to have made inappropriate comments to Thomson during a lunch in 2010, the CEO of Ontario’s public broadcaster said in a news release Monday. “Based on evidence to date, TVO sees no reason to remove Mr. Paikin from his role of host for The Agenda pending the outcome of the investigation,” Lisa de Wilde said. Last week, Thomson wrote about the alleged encounter on Women’s Post, a website that she publishes. “They didn’t have to sleep with him to get on his show.” De Wilde said TVO became aware of the allegation on Saturday, when Paikin notified the broadcaster of an email he received from Thomson.
