TTP suspends talks with govt side

Share:ISLAMABAD - After ending unilateral ceasefire with the government, the proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has also suspended talks with government negotiators until their demands are met mainly release of 102 top level leaders and commanders. The sources said yesterday the announcement by TTP for the end of the ceasefire has put the entire negotiations process on hold. The sources told The Nation that suspension of negotiators could be disastrous for peace which is why efforts have been started for immediate resumption of talks with TTP. The sources said government negotiators also made contacts with Afghan top leaders on the matter to convince TTP to resume talks and maintain a ceasefire. Pakistan’s parliamentary leaders were taken into confidence by top military leaders in October 2021 on talks with TTP.
