North American stock markets were mixed in late-morning trading as the Canadian dollar moved lower. The Canadian dollar was at 75.47 cents US, down 0.27 of a cent from Tuesday. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average lost 30.54 points at 18,197.76, while the S&P 500 fell 5.71 points to 2,154.22. The Nasdaq composite lost 13.95 points at 5,291.76. The November crude oil contract was down 14 cents at $44.53 (U.S.) per barrel and November natural gas was down nine cents at $2.96 (U.S.) per mmBtu.
