TSX Turns Negative at Midday; Resources, Healthcare Lead Decline


The TSX was down by almost 56 points at midday, erasing its morning gains, with resource and healthcare stocks leading the broad-based slump. Total volume traded so far stood at 205.7 million shares. The energy group was the weakest, shedding 2.7%, and was followed by materials, which tumbled 1.5%. At last check, the WTI was down 4.0% at US$44.91/barrel, while Brent slid 4.3% to US$46.40/barrel. Oil prices were sliding again after the Energy Information Administration said the decline in U.S. crude stockpiles was lower than expected last week, while gasoline supply surprisingly increased.
