TSC spells out tough rules for college job applicants

TSC chief executive officer Nancy Macharia said such individuals would not be considered even if they have post-graduate diploma in education certificates. “Candidates whose training is in subjects that are not in the curriculum do not qualify,” Mrs Macharia said. Those interested in teaching at secondary school must have a minimum mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination or its equivalent. They must also have a bachelor of education degree with two teaching subjects, a bachelor of science or arts degree plus a PGDE with two teaching subjects or a bachelor of science with education and bachelor of arts with education with two teaching subjects. Mrs Macharia said applicants must have studied the two teaching subjects at KCSE level, except for agriculture, business studies, home science, and computer.
