But that isn’t true – and thankfully, both on and off the pitch, we now seem to be getting closer to an environment where talking about mental health is recognised for what it is: a sign of strength. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt’s a promise that football clubs and organisations will prioritise mental health and put emotional and mental wellbeing at the top of the agenda, now and for generations to come. Mental health wasn’t on the agenda at all. We need to prove that football is putting the resources in place to have a lasting legacy on mental health within the game. Supporters watching around the world on their sofas will hopefully hear what we’re trying to say, loud and clear, that we all have mental health, just like we all have physical health.
