Officials in the Speaker’s office said an interim secretary had been finalised to fill the post till a case pending in the High Court regarding the new appointment is finalised. However, no official communication was issued as of Wednesday night, and officials refused to divulge the name of the interim secretary. Mr. Boopathy joined the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat service in August 1985 and became an Under-Secretary in 2008. Vasanthimalar and Joint Secretary B. Subramaniyam had moved the Madras High Court last week, accusing Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal of attempting to get his special private secretary K. Srinivasan appointed as the Assembly Secretary.
